Flanged seals

Inner and outer flanges, endless or welded

Flanged seals – also known as metal surrounds – have proven themselves in many applications. The focus is on protecting the gasket against aggressive media or protecting it against contamination caused by the detachment of gasket components – especially at high flow velocities. A flange additionally reinforces the flat gasket on a mechanical level, especially with larger nominal widths.
The common standard dimensions in accordance with standards such as DIN or ASME are manufactured seamlessly up to certain nominal widths. All other metal fittings are manufactured in a welded design, often using the laser welding process.
This technology offers many advantages in terms of strength and tightness compared to outdated welding processes. However, the flare takes the necessary surface pressure from the gasket, which is required to fill in the roughness and unevenness of the flange surfaces. For this reason, the higher-quality version with metal edging should be tested in advance to determine exactly which technical detail should be the focus of the application.

We have over 25 years of experience in the manufacture of flanged gaskets. We commonly finish flat gaskets with an inner flange, which we can produce in both endless and laser-welded versions. Seals with a welded outer flange are also possible.
